Event information

The Fourth meeting of the Conference of the Parties will be held in person from April 21 to 24, 2026, in Nassau, Bahamas. Live streaming will be available at https://live.cepal.org/escazu/.


Meeting Venue

The conference will be held at the British Colonial Nassau, located at One Bay Street.

This historic hotel, situated in downtown Nassau, offers oceanfront views and combines colonial-era architecture with modern conference facilities. It provides a professional and secure environment suitable for high-level diplomatic meetings. Its features include fully equipped conference and meeting rooms, business services and high-speed internet, on-site dining facilities, private beach access, and a central location within walking distance of key government offices.

Plenary sessions will take place in the Queen Elizabeth Ballroom.

Registration and badge collection will be carried out in the foyer of the plenary ballroom.

The meeting will be held in person and will include simultaneous interpretation in English and Spanish.

The meeting will be organised by CEPAL. Questions on substantive matters relating to the meeting may be addressed to the Secretariat of the Escazú Agreement (secretaria.escazu@cepal.org). Registration

Registration for in-person participation closed on 27, March, 2026. 

  • The meeting can be followed via live stream, without registration.
  • Once you submit your registration request, you will receive an automated email confirming receipt and that the Secretariat will process it promptly. Please note that receipt of this automated email does not imply acceptance of your registration for the meeting.
  • After your application has been reviewed, you will receive a specific email regarding the approval or disapproval of your application. 
  • If your registration request has not yet been processed, please note that the waiting list will advance based on the registration date and as other approved members of the public withdraw their registrations.
  • If your registration request has been approved, please note that this approval is personal and non-transferable to third parties. Please notify the Secretariat of the Escazú Agreement (secretaria.escazu@cepal.org) if you are unable to attend in person.
  • For participants whose registration has been approved but who do not attend without prior notice to the Secretariat, this will be recorded in the registration and participation record and taken into account for future event registrations organised by the Secretariat.
  • For the public, we kindly suggest registering up to two representatives per organisation. The Secretariat will endeavour to facilitate geographically and gender-balanced representation among public participants.
  • Reasons for non-approval of registration:
    (i) incorrect completion of the registration form;
    (ii) completion of an incorrect registration form;
    (iii) registration of more than two representatives from your organisation;
    (iv) having been accepted and not attending previous COPs without giving prior notice to the Secretariat;
    (v) the capacity or limit of the meeting room has been reached due to the total number of approved registrations.
  • For government delegates, online registration does not exempt them from the requirement to provide official notification of the name of the head of the delegation and all accompanying members.
  • Representatives of States Parties must have letters of credentials in order to participate in decision-making.
  • Members of the UN System and Intergovernmental Organisations must send an official note identifying the name of the head of their delegation. The Secretariat will make every effort to accommodate all participants in the respective meeting rooms. If the room reaches capacity, only the designated head of delegation will be allowed in.

Meetings and activities complementary to COP4

In addition, related meetings will take place on April 20 and 21, 2026, including the Tenth Session of the Committee to Support Implementation and Compliance. Registration for COP4 extends to this activity. More information on meetings and activities complementary to COP4 will be available soon.


Credentials of Parties

To participate in meeting decision-making, parties must be accredited. Credentials for the head of a delegation, alternate representatives and advisers are issued either by the Head of State or Government or by the Minister for Foreign Affairs. Information on any changes to the delegation's composition should be submitted using the same procedure. Parties are invited to submit electronic versions of their preference credentials by Tuesday, March 31, 2026, to facilitate review. Electronic copies of credentials may be sent to secretaria.escazu@cepal.org

Badge collection for registered participants

Badge collection for registered and confirmed participants will take place from Monday, 20 April, to Wednesday, 24 April. Further information about the time and location for badge collection will be provided soon.


For the collection of badges, the following will be required:

a. identification document
b. a copy of the ECLAC e-mail approving your registration (on paper or on your cell phone), with the registration number.


Languages

The official languages will be Spanish and English. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in both languages.


Documents

This will be a paper-smart meeting. All official documents and statements will be available for reading or download on the Conference's official website. Participants are advised to bring their laptop, tablet, or other mobile device to the meeting, as only a limited number of printed documents will be available.

In order to create an inclusive, safe and respectful environment at Escazú Agreement events for all attendees, the Code of Conduct applicable to attendees of Escazú Agreement events will apply to all event participants, who must declare that they know, understand and accept it when submitting their registration application.
